“Meet Mrs. Amico” Welcome to grade one.  It will be an excited school year for your child.  We will be working very hard on our reading and mathematical skills.

If you ever have any concerns, questions or comments, please speak to me after school in the school yard or write me a note and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I was born and raised in Lynn. I graduated from Lynn English High School. Right after high school, I went to Salem State College and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education.

I have taught in the Lynn Public School system for 19 years. I have taught fourth grade, kindergarten and have found my calling in the first grade.

I attended Aborn School as a child. I have many fond memories of receiving a great elementary education through academics and a lot of fun.

I enjoy working at Aborn School. Each child is unique and I strive to make sure each child reaches their optimal achievement in a safe and caring environment.

“Meet Ms. Sweeney” Hi, I’m Ms. Sweeney and I’m delighted to be teaching first grade at Aborn School.   I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Elementary Education from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northeastern University.  I taught  pre-k, kindergarten,  and special education before arriving in first grade, my favorite!  I have taught classes at several schools in Lynn over the years and started at Aborn School in 2007.

My philosophy of education…  It is the teacher’s responsibility to make sure every child feels safe and secure, respected at all times, and “special” in the eyes of the teacher.  Then great learning and positive behavior will occur!  Every child comes to school with a unique personality and differing amounts of preparation for school.

A teacher must figure out where each child is on the continuum of learning and help them move forward toward grade level expectations and beyond.
