|My name is Persida Chez and I teach Spanish to the 7th and 8th graders. I have a Masters in Education from Emmanuel College and a Bachelor of Science in from Cambridge College. This is my first year teaching in the City of Lynn but my second year as a teacher. I am from Lynn but my family is from the Dominican Republic.
In Spanish 1A the students learn how to introduce themselves, a friend, ask information, describe their family, express likes and dislikes and be able to shopping, and order food at a restaurant.
In Spanish 1B, the second year students become more fluent and learn the complexity of verbs in Spanish. This level of Spanish is more conversational. At the beginning some of it is reviewing the vocabulary from last year but as the year progresses the students will be using it more conversationally. We will also be looking at some of the Spanish Speaking countries and their culture.
I expect my students to come prepared to class. I try to make my class a fun experience so that they students enjoy learning another language. Although we play a lot of games they are games for learning and students are expected to participate in the activities.
I hope that by the end of the school year both my Spanish 1A and Spanish 1B will feel comfortable with the Spanish language and have a broader knowledge of the Spanish Speaking Countries and their history and Culture.
At the end of the year all of the students will be working on a country project. They will research this country and present it to their classmates using some technology.
