Teaching has given me the chance to enjoy and combine two of the main interests in my life, mathematics and children. It is true when people say that a job does not feel like a job when one loves what they do.
I look at teaching as the daily opportunity to share with children whatever knowledge and understanding I have been able to acquire throughout my lifetime. Learning has always been important to me. As a graduate of Somerville High School, Boston University, and Westfield State, I continue to study and try to expand my field of knowledge.
This year I am finding that most of my students are truly interested in increasing their understanding of mathematics. Naturally this makes teaching an encouraging and rewarding experience and one that provides incalculable benefits to all. |
