Hi, My name is Kristine Banos and I teach the Life Skills program here at Thurgood Marshall. I received my Special Education and my Early Childhood Education degree from Wheelock Collage in Boston Ma in 1983. I taught for a year and then took 11 years off to raise my 4 beautiful children. I have been teaching for 21 years.

The Life Skills Program is designed to teach students while working on learning standards that have been substantially modified due to the nature and severity of their disability. They participate in the MCAS Alternative Assessment. They participate in life skill functioning academics which include reading and math which is an integral part of our everyday lives.
Attendance is a very important in the routine of education. Homework is a responsibility as well as a reinforcement for concepts learned. Following our classroom rules and school rules make the students successful in their everyday lives.

Students in my program will explore Egypt through a variety of different projects like painting Mummies to cooking Egyptian foods. They will become little chefs through cooking recipes and activities every Friday. They will build on their socialization skills while role playing through an assortment of games. The 8th grade Leadership kids will come in to work with the students on a Day 1 cycle.
