2016-2017 will be my 12th year teaching in the Lynn Public Schools. I received my bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of St Joseph in Connecticut and my masters in Special Education from Cambridge College in Massachusetts I currently teach 6th grade students using Read180. Read 180 is a reading program that uses high interest stories to engage students to strengthen their reading skills. I am passionate about teaching reading and helping students discover that they are part of an amazing world that extends far beyond their school!

I am a special education teacher at Marshall Middle School. This is my first year at TMMS and I am excited to be working with the 6th graders! I will be assisting the special education students with their math and E.L.A skills and coursework from these content classes. My goal is to provide the necessary supports for them to be successful, through additional practice and reinforcement, differentiated lessons, and appropriate accommodations. Prior to this, I taught in a similar capacity at the elementary school level. I now look forward to working with Middle School students during this exciting year of transition and growth!

This is Mr. McCarthy second year at Thurgood Marshall, and he’s excited to be here!  He originally hails from Merrimac, Massachusetts.  He taught Literature and reading & writing tutorials at Landmark School for 15 years.

He also teaches and studies Wah-Lum Kung Fu in Malden, MA.  In his spare time he enjoys reading, writing short stories, gaming, and going on adventures with his wife Ginevra, and his dog Sadie.  Mr. McCarthy especially loves to travel; some of his favorite places have been: California, Hawai’i, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Curacao, England, Scotland, France, and China.  He’s looking forward to being part of this excellent community and having a fantastic year!

Ms. Moore is in her third year teaching at Marshall Middle school. Prior to joining the TMMS Faculty, she taught Reading and Language Arts for seven years at a high school for students with learning disabilities. During those years, she also coached tennis, counseled students in their residential setting, mentored other teachers, and started a comprehensive Outdoor Leadership program. Her favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Outside of school, she enjoys playing Rugby and Softball and hiking with her dog.

I am 59 years old and have taught at TMMS for 20 years. I have been married to my wife Jane for over 28 years. We have 2 sons. My oldest son has been in the Marines for over 3 years and my youngest son goes to UConn on a baseball scholarship. During the summer I spend most of my time at baseball games or sailing my O’Day 272. I went to high school at Bishop Fenwick. I then went to Salem State, then Lesly College for my Masters.

Hello, my name is Mr. Shapiro!  I was raised in Concord, MA., and was totally immersed in Colonial history throughout my youth. I attended Lesley University to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies, and Cambridge College to obtain my Master’s Degree in Education, and was awarded both.  I am on my 13th year of teaching, and am currently teaching for my 10th year here in sunny Lynn!  My teaching experience in Lynn schools has included the Harrington, Ford, Washington, and Thurgood Marshall.

I am currently teaching under my Moderate Special Needs license in cluster 3.

I have 2 daughters one of whom is nearing the end of her high school years, and the other at the beginning of her elementary education.

I enjoy star-gazing, bird-watching, and hiking through the woods.  My wife is an awesome baker (as many will attest) and perhaps one day you may enjoy her cookies, fudge, brownies or Chocolate Dream Bars!

I look forward to working with your sons and daughters, and sharing in their growth as academicians and as individuals.

I graduated in 1977 from Salem State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I worked for 18 years in the finance and banking industry. In 1995 I left the banking industry and starting substitute teaching in the Lynn Public Schools. I received my Masters degree in 2000 from Endicott College in Beverly. My first teaching position was in special education and was a split shift between Sissan School and Ingalls School in 1998. The following  September I was hired at Marshall Middle School in a special education classroom. I have also taught 6th grade and 7th grade Math, special education math and Life Skills at Marshall Middle School.

My husband and I reside in Lynn with our 4 dogs and our son. I have two children who along with myself are alumni of Lynn English High School. My favorite leisure activities  include arts and crafts and household projects.
