Curriculum Guides | 2015-2016

In an effort to achieve consistency across the schools, we are providing you with the Lynn Public Schools Curriculum Overviews for each grade via the links below. These curriculum overviews have been prepared by a committee of teachers and curriculum leaders to inform you of some of the abilities and skills we will help your child to develop throughout the year. We hope this quick overview stimulates on-going dialogue with you and your child's teachers.

We encourage your support and assistance throughout the school year so that your child will have a successful and rewarding school experience. As a system, we undergo periodic review of all of our curriculum. Any future updates and changes to this material will be posted as it becomes available.

The LPS Guidance Curriculum

The LPS Guidance curriculum for grades 6-12 was developed by a team of middle school and high school guidance counselors and is based on Massachusetts standards for career development education.  The curriculum addresses three domains:

  • Academic – Technical Development
  • Workplace Readiness Development
  • Personal/Social Development

The guidance curriculum is delivered in the following settings:

  • Large group assemblies
  • Small groups/classrooms
  • Individual meetings

The following programs are utilized:

  • Naviance
  • College Board
  • MassCis
  • FAFSA

Program highlights of the Guidance Curriculum:

  • Reaches a broad number of students in an organized, systematic way
  • Designed to get students thinking about and exploring career preferences
  • Helps students create a future vision
  • Provides a concrete path from grade-to-grade toward attainment of post-secondary goals
  • Contributes to a college-going culture
