New Marshall Middle School Principal Announced

The superintendent is pleased to announce the appointment of a new principal for the Thurgood Marshall Middle School.  Ms. Molly Cohen, an experienced educator with the Lynn Public Schools, will be leaving her current position as vice principal at Breed Middle School to officially take over leadership of Marshall on January 5, 2015.

New Ford Elementary School Principal Announced
Lynn The Superintendent is pleased to announce the appointment of Joanne LaRivee as the new principal of the Robert L. Ford Elementary School.  Ms. LaRivee, formerly the Vice Principal at the South Lawrence East Middle School in Lawrence, is an experienced teacher and school administrator with over twenty-five years in the Lawrence Public Schools.

Enterovirus D68 | Schools in a number of states are seeing an increase in students with a severe respiratory illness caused by enterovirus D68 (EV-D68). At this time the state of Massachusetts has confirmed at least one case of the enterovirus.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease | The second illness is one we have seen in our schools, although there are very few cases. It is also caused by a virus and is called hand, foot and mouth diseaseHand-foot-and-mouth disease is common in children but can also occur in adults. It can occur at any time of year but is most common in the summer and fall. 

Flu | Flu season will soon be upon us!  The Lynn Health Department has two upcoming FREE flu clinics for all residents 6 months old and above. Both clinics will be held at Lynn City Hall, City Hall Square, Room 103. Please bring your health insurance card if you have one, however you may still receive a vaccine if you do not have a health card! CLICK HERE FOR MORE
Partnership Opens Doors For LPS To Pursue Grants
LPS BEF In a time when municipal budgets are seemingly getting tighter every year, school districts are being forced to think creatively in order to supplement their funding. Lynn Public Schools has just aced a test in that regard, with help from a longtime partner. The district and the Lynn Business Education Foundation forged an agreement enabling Lynn Public Schools to apply for private grants whenever foundations and corporations require applicants to have 501(c)(3) status — typically a minimum criterion for such funding.
