The mission of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute is to provide the culturally rich and diverse student body with the opportunity to acquire vocational, technical, and academic skills necessary to succeed in high demand occupations and in further education. QUALIFICATIONS:  The candidate must possess/demonstrate:

1.       Both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate must be able to:

·         Work collaboratively with other administrators maintaining the mission of LVTI and reaching school improvement plan goals

·         Serve as the instructional leader for all school programs and infuse a cooperative commitment to the goals of the school with staff and students

·         Function as the daily manager of school programs and maintain a safe learning environment

·         Assume responsibility for all matters relating to supervision and oversight of staff, including but not limited to evaluation, hiring, discharge and assignment of personnel with the Education Reform Act of 1993 and An Act Relative to the Achievement Gap of 2010 

·         Meet with students and parents/guardians when concerns are not resolved at the teacher level

·         Serve as a resource to teachers on the discipline of students

February 8, 2010       Program Specialist for Early Childhood

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Masters degree in Education.
  2. License: MA DESE Pre-K-2 or Pre-K-3 & Special Education Pre-K-8 license required.
  3. Working knowledge of the techniques and materials necessary to foster the interrelationship of    reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  4. Trained in supervision and evaluation and/or willingness to be trained.
  5. Must have achieved NCLB Highly Qualified teacher status in area of licensure.

JOB DESCRIPTION:            Coordinate and implement coaching in Early Literacy Matters (ELM) preschool classrooms for the Early Reading First grant.  Work with Gregg Neighborhood House and Lynn Public Schools to increase teachers’ knowledge, skills, and abilities to enhance early language, literacy, and pre-reading development using scientifically based literacy curricula, Opening the World of Learning (OWL) & Building Blocks, through a structured coaching process. Work with ELM Project Director and Professional Development Coordinator to align professional development and curriculum within and across the district. Work with Project Director to ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Supervise a team of Early Literacy Coaches.
  2. Coach up to three classrooms (22.5 hours per week).
  3. Spend up to 15 hours per week supervising & ensuring completion of project tasks to achieve goals and objectives.
  4. Collaborate with University of Massachusetts Boston, Early Childhood Associates (ECA), and Early Literacy Coaches to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities of all teachers/instructional partners to implement grant as outlined.
  5. Ensure implementation of OWL & Building Blocks curricula.
  6. Regularly assess OWL implementation using OWL Fidelity Checklist.
  7. Regularly review child and program assessment data with classroom teams in assigned classrooms.
  8. Assure implementation of coaching modeling & regularly document using coaching log.
  9. Collect coaching logs from team members weekly.
  10. Interpret CLASS/ELLCO scores and data in conjunction with UMASS and lead preschool staff to inform improvement to the classroom environment and instructional practices.
  11. Work with ECA to share data with classroom staff on students’ outcomes to inform instructional strategies and identify areas in need of focus.
  12. Regularly contribute to professional development activities.
  13. Identify classroom trends, with teaching staff and Early Literacy Coaches, to inform professional development and ELM Project Director.
  14. Deliver regular supervision and support to all Early Literacy Coaches throughout the duration of the project.
  15. Assist classroom staff in administering, collecting, and analyzing ongoing assessment data throughout the duration of the project.
  16. Provide in-classroom support using techniques of in-class modeling and skilled coaching.
  17. Observe, model, and share insights with preschool staff based upon regular classroom visits and a respectful, responsive, and reciprocal relationship.
  18. Ensure knowledge of and implementation of OWL & Building Blocks curricula by all Early Literacy Coaches.
  19. Meet with Project Director and Early Literacy Coaches on a regular basis.
  20. Make presentations within the district, community, and at national conferences upon request.
  21. Serve as a resource to wider early childhood community and collaborate with the Family Support Specialist to engage families in their child’s education.
  22. Ensure that all ELM classrooms provide families with the opportunity to participate in language and literacy activities at school, in their community, and at home.
  23. Collaborate with district and ELM staff on key initiatives such as Pre-K–3rd grade curriculum alignment, RTI protocol development, outreach to families and ELM partners.

  1. Masters in Education, with an emphasis in special education.  Certification in Special Education required.
  2. License: MA DESE in Special Education at Initial or Professional level.
  3. Must have achieved NCLB Highly Qualified teacher status in area of licensure.
  4. Experience in developing, modifying and implementing curriculum for special education students.
  5. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in an urban public school setting in the area of Special Education.
  6. Minimum of five years of experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  7. Experience mentoring and coaching new teachers on program/curriculum implementation.
  8. Experience mentoring and coaching teachers on proper Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) techniques.
  9. Experience in managing/supervising staff, including teachers, specialists, consultants and paraprofessionals, who work with students with ASD.
  10. Experience in modeling appropriate behavior techniques and teaching strategies to teachers, specialists, consultants and paraprofessionals for students with ASD.
  11. Training and experience in writing and implementing individual support plans in order to target decreases in maladaptive behaviors for children with ASD.
  12. Training and at least five years of experience in writing IEPs, IEP goals and objectives and programs for students with ASD.
  13. Training and experience in implementing ABA techniques.
  14. At least five years of experience implementing and designing programs to teach language, social, play and self-help skills and other skills that are typically deficient with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  15. Extensive training and at least five years of experience implementing discrete trials, including, but not limited to, data collection and analyses and graphing.
  16. At least five years of experience implementing ABA programming in a natural environment setting.
  17. At least five years of experience in recording, observing and based on observations, modifying students’ behaviors and providing 1:1 behaviorally based treatment to children with ASD.
  18. Experience in coordinating building services in conjunction with the building administrator.
  19. Experience in facilitating the mainstreaming of special education students after consulting with the building principals.
  20. Experience in successfully collaborating/coordinating with teachers, specialists, consultants and paraprofessionals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The COACH Program Specialist will report to the Senior Administrators of Special Education and responsible to monitor all special education service delivery in their professional learning community including the following:

  1. Coordinate all special education services and delivery of services in accordance with the child’s IEP in their assigned professional learning community.
  2. Oversee and direct all support personnel in their assigned professional learning community including chairpersons, speech and language therapists, COTA and OTR, hearing and vision specialists, physical therapists, PTA, and adaptive physical education specialists.
  3. Monitor caseloads and referrals to assure equity and even distribution.  Reassign and modify support personnel within the community to assure equity.
  4. Work with the team chairpersons to assure that all evaluations are completed within prescribed D.E.S.E. timelines, and reports are available to all team members in a timely fashion.
  5. Work to assure three year evaluations and yearly IEPs are completed as prescribed.
  6. Be available to explain to parents programs and support services available t6o students and parents.
  7. Work to assure all monthly billing and service delivery procedures are completed in accordance with federal reimbursement guidelines.  Assure all necessary documents for PCG are completed.
  8. Act as another liaison for the schools between public agencies, hospitals, parents, and community groups.
  9. Provide direction regarding conflict resolution and rejected IEPs.
  10. Participate in supervisory meetings to assure accountability and compliance.
  11. Assist senior administrator in the evaluation of personnel in accordance with contractual requirements.
  12. Work with appropriate supervisors in setting up special events and Program Continue.
  13. Provide supervision and direction of those teachers working with a specialized population including all teachers working with autistic students, medically fragile students and cognitively challenged students throughout the system.
  14. Review all IEPs with teachers to assure that services are being provided in accordance with the aspects of the IEP.
  15. Work with teachers to coordinate all support in the treatment of the child including consultation, direct services, and programming for families (i.e. North Shore Consortium, Home Training, Nurses, etc.).  Acts as a liaison between schools and families to assure services are being provided in accordance with the child’s IEP plan.
  16. Work with the teachers to set up alternative assessment strategies to deal with MCAS requirements and secure specialized technology to aide these children.
  17. Work with the teachers to develop strategies to work toward inclusion of these students when possible in the general education environment with non-disabled students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

2.         Experience in assessing English Language Learners.

3.         Understanding and knowledge of assessment and language evaluation techniques.

4.         Advanced Microsoft Word/Excel Skills, familiar with Access.

5.         Fluent and literate in English and Spanish (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).

1.      Carry out all phases of assessment, identification, and placement of English Language Learners.    

2.      Perform language dominance evaluations in schools for previously registered students, upon referral, and provide appropriate staff with results.

3.      Prepare monthly reports and annual summary of language evaluations conducted in the Language Support Office (initial placement) and in schools (language dominance referrals).

4.      Collect and organize standardized assessment data (MEPA, MELA-O, MCAS) of all ELL students and prepare school-based reports.

5.      Maintain Lynn Public Schools staff data base regarding SEI Category Training (Professional Development) and generate school-based reports.

6.      Prepare other reports as needed.

7.      Train part-time language evaluators; organize schedule for additional testing during peak registration times – March, April, and August.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Fifty-two (52) weeks per year; first year teacher's salary plus $5,000 with appropriate benefits.         Non-union position.

JOB GOAL:         Comply with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.        Assist Parent Information Center staff with assessing immunization records.

2.        Provide mandated immunizations.

3.        Provide access to all LPS services and programs for all families, especially homeless families.

4.        Assist PIC staff to document homeless families as required by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

5.        Identify families who do not have health insurance and provide access to personnel to process Mass Health applications.

6.        Work with shelter staff and assist them when applicable.

7.        Develop and oversee staff development and other programs required by grant funding such as: Summer programs, tutoring and meetings with community agencies.

8.        Coordinate meetings with members of the Homeless Education Services Coordination Committee (HESC) and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

9.        Attend required meetings by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding homeless students.

JOB GOAL:   To provide leadership, coordination and innovation in assigned curricular area so that each student may derive maximum benefit from the continuing pursuit of the subject involved.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organizes and implements the Science Program in grades 9 – 12.
  2. Establishes department curriculum objectives and develops a plan for the implementation and evaluation of these objectives for grades 9 – 12.
  3. Assists in the screening, training, and assignments of department personnel.
  4. Assists department teachers in the handling of day-to-day problems of instruction and is a resource person for department teachers on curriculum and instructional consensus.
  5. Responsible for the ordering, inventorying, and distributing of all departmental instructional materials.
  6. Evaluates departmental personnel in accordance with School Committee policy.
  7. Makes recommendations to the Director regarding department personnel and advises the Director on the department’s budgetary needs.
  1. Makes classroom visitation of department personnel when necessary and provides follow-up consultation.
  2. Reviews teacher lesson plans.
  3. Develops and maintains a department library.
  4. Provides orientation and in-service training programs for department personnel.
  5. Attends relevant school, district, and professional meetings.
  6. Meets with other department heads to promote interdisciplinary programs.
  7. Assists in identifying and utilizing community resources for the department program.
  8. Implements an ongoing program of curriculum evaluation.
  9. Provides the Director or his/her designee with course outlines for all department offerings.
  10. Is responsible for the Science Department programs.
  11. Works with school and district leadership to formulate, disseminate and implement school improvement plans.
  12. Assists the Director in interpreting grading policies, promotional policies, and the district’s instructional program to parents and the community.
  13. Devises experimental programs designed to improve the curriculum and instructional techniques.
  14. Keeps informed on educational innovations and trends as they relate to department concerns.
  15. Collaborates with teachers on improving their repertoire of differentiated instructional assessment strategies.
  16. Submits required reports and other information as requested by the Director and/or the Deputy Superintendent in a timely and accurate fashion.
  17. Assumes any other duties appropriately related to this particular classification as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
  18. Co-ordinates integration projects between academic and vocational teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of three (3) years successful experience as a head coach of football in college or high school OR at least five (5) years of successful experience as an assistant football coach in college or high school.
  2. Evidence of having played varsity football in high school, college, or any other higher level of education.
  3. CPR and First Aid instructor experience required.
  4. Knowledge of care, use and selection of equipment.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor academic climate of all players; check grades and credits regarding eligibility and quarterly progress during the school year.  Maintain discipline among teammates.
  2. Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Coaches established by the Lynn School Committee.
  3. Work closely with guidance department regarding colleges that are of interest to team members.  Establish relationships with college coaches and preparatory school representatives.
  4. Responsible for organizational matters for the football program, such as maintaining close communications with the Director, community involvement with boosters or varsity clubs, for example, meeting with parents and alumni, etc.
  5. Evaluate assistant coaches on a seasonal basis and report findings to the Director.
  6. Recommend selection of assistant coaches to the Director for final confirmation by the Superintendent, based on a posting, screening, interviewing and selection process.
  1. Attend clinics, conferences and other meetings on a state and league level.  Participate in the Northeastern Conference.  Stay informed about changes in rules and regulations in MIAA and NEC.
  2. Complete periodic inventory of all useable football equipment.  Prepare annual budget report for equipment, supplies, etc.
  3. Administer injury claim forms and follow up on progress of all injured players.
  4. Confer with the Director on schedules for non-league games and pre-season scrimmages.
  5. Responsible for school facilities including locker rooms and field houses.  Check all areas (game facilities) after everyone else has left premises.

SALARY RANGE:    $6,361 - $8,518

JOB GOAL:   To provide leadership in the ongoing development of an assessment and accountability system to monitor student achievement and evaluate the educational programs implemented to improve the educational outcomes of students in the Lynn Public Schools.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Collaborate/coordinate with school personnel in the central office and in the schools to ensure    the   

     vertical and horizontal articulation of curriculum and instruction in instructional technology.

2.  Manage/supervise/conduct instructional technology professional development in the use of new

     technologies and best technology practices including collaboration and integration with Language

     Support Office and Special Education Department.

3.  Collaborate with other district personnel in the construction and implementation of assessments that

     provide continuous feedback on student progress toward state standards.

4.   Provide support to school-based data teams.

5.   Scan, score, analyze and disseminate student assessment data to administrators and school personnel.

6.   Assist in the analysis and creation of district reports on MCAS.

7.   Supervise/review/recommend/order research based instructional technology.

8.   Work with network administrator to coordinate specifications, procurement, licensing and upgrades of

      hardware and software for the schools.

9.   Provide direction and support to the district on the use of online tools to support learning (e.g.

      Masson, Wikies, Blogs, SharePoint Services, MOODLE, PBS, online courses, VHS).

10.  Prepare and/or assist in preparing grants to secure funds to support technology as well as to secure

       other funds to enhance education in the Lynn Public Schools.

11.  Manage/supervise all instructional technology grants.

12.  Collaborate with the Director of Computer Implementation to maximize district utilization of

       COGNOS and the data center.

13.  Prepare quantitative reports on student performance (formative and summative) as requested by the

       Superintendent of Schools and the Lynn School Committee.

14.  Advise Business Manager and Special Education Administrator on new technologies related to

       document storage and information retrieval.

15.  Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent/Deputy

       Superintendent/Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
