Your student's school will be reaching out to you by the end of next week with an access code for "Schoology". If you do not receive an access code by October 9th, reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. At the secondary level, you only need 1 access code and all courses will be loaded.
This account will allow you to see the work your child has submitted, discussions they have participated in, school updates, and also provides the ability to message staff at the school. Multiple children can be added to one parent account.
The following are videos (Part 1 and Part 2) showing how to set up your account and take advantage of all the "Schoology" features available to you.

August 31, 2020
Dear Aborn Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to the Aborn School Community. Our staff has been working incredibly hard to prepare for this very unique beginning of school.
As you may already know, the Lynn Public Schools will begin the 20-21 school year remotely. Remote learning is students engaged in their classes and completing assignments from a remote location, not from inside the school. Although we will be learning remotely, the attendance policy has not changed. It remains the same as in previous years.
This school year will look very different as we move into teaching and learning. We have adopted a Learning Management System for Lynn Public Schools called"Schoology". A learning management system is an online application that allows for the administration of educational courses, providing teaching and learning opportunities anytime, from anywhere. Your child will be taught using "Schoology", Monday-Friday, throughout the school day and beyond. "Schoology" can be accessed through a desktop, laptop, or through the web browser on an iPad or tablet.
Students will access "Schoology" by logging onto:
https://lynnschools.schoology.com
Username: student’s email address:
stu------@lynnschools.org (6 digit ID# follows stu)
Please contact the school if you do not know your child’s unique ID number. Beginning on September 16th, once they are logged in, their courses will be loaded on this page and they will have access to school updates. More information will follow, including videos on how to log in.
Students in grades 3-12 should have already received their district issued loaner laptops at this time. If you have not had this opportunity, please contact your building principal and they will provide dates, times, and locations for pickup. Devices have been ordered for students in grades K-2, we will notify families when those arrive.
Starting September 23rd, the school day for Grades 1 - 5 at Aborn is Monday - Friday from 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM.. During that time, students will participate in teaching and learning based on the following times: |

Welcome To The Aborn Elementary School
Vision Statement
The Aborn Elementary School will help all students develop the ability to think critically and creatively, to solve problems individually and collaboratively, to appreciate and respect diversity, and to become productive, responsible, and responsive members of a global society.
September 2020
Dear Aborn Families,
We are about to embark on a truly remarkable journey! This journey will take us into uncharted waters, where it might feel like we are drowning. We may need a lifeline, because we feel like we cannot swim another stroke! The good news is that we are in this together! We are here to help you through this challenging time, answer questions as best we can, offer support, and make sure your child has what s/he needs to learn in this world of remote learning.
Many things will be different, but many things will be the same. Teachers will teach and children will learn. Children will read books and learn math facts, engage with science, participate in small group instruction and collaborative work, and nurture their sense of wonder and curiosity.
In this truly unprecedented time, we need to remember to hold tight to a set of core values that will help us navigate the uncertainty.
- Flexibility - We do not know what we do not know! That makes it difficult to plan and anticipate where breakdowns may occur. Stay flexible. Be positive.
- Forgiveness - You will make mistakes. Teachers will make mistakes. I will make mistakes. Assume best intentions, and know we are doing our best in our new reality.
- Kindness - Practice kindness and compassion in times of crisis. We are forging new paths and need to make sure we don’t get stuck in the brambles.
- Grace – Grace is neither earned nor deserved but given so that others may rise and find strength.
As a school, we believe deeply in our Vision Statement: We will help all students develop the ability to think critically and creatively, to solve problems individually and collaboratively, to appreciate and respect diversity, and to become productive, responsible, and responsive members of a global society. Thank you for this awesome opportunity to educate your child!
With gratitude and respect,
Katia Spiess

About School Councils
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
It is important to note the School Council plays an advisory role in assisting the building principal to organize and implement a School Improvement Plan which not only addresses the areas in which the school intends to comply with the requirements of the Educational Reform Act, but also how the school intends to meet those system-wide goals and policies adopted by the school committee. Membership will consist of the principal, teachers, parents, students and community members. |
