"Schoology" Parent Access Update - October 6, 2020
Your student's school will be reaching out to you by the end of next week with an access code for "Schoology". If you do not receive an access code by October 9th, reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. At the secondary level, you only need 1 access code and all courses will be loaded.
This account will allow you to see the work your child has submitted, discussions they have participated in, school updates, and also provides the ability to message staff at the school. Multiple children can be added to one parent account.
The following are videos (Part 1 and Part 2) showing how to set up your account and take advantage of all the "Schoology" features available to you.

October 1, 2020
Greetings, Breed Families!
Thank you for being so helpful with getting our students adjusted to our new learning management system, Schoology. We are currently in the process of getting parent accounts on the Schoology platform.
Having a parent account will allow you to see what your child has been doing, get school updates, and message the staff at the school. You need an access code for each child and can add all children to one account.
Teachers will be sharing access codes over the next week, please reach out to your child’s guidance counselor if you do not hear from your child's homeroom teacher by next Thursday or if you have any other questions. I hope to get all families signed up for Schoology. If you still need assistance getting your child logged onto Schoology, please contact the school (781) 477-7330 and we will schedule an appointment.
Please see below videos and instructions on how to login to Schoology:

As a reminder, lunch is being served at 19 schools on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12 Noon until 2:30 PM. Lynn Classical High School is the closest in proximity to Breed.
Finally, we are planning a Virtual Open House on Wednesday, October 7th. There will be two sessions available you only need to attend one. Session one is from 5 PM until 6 PM and session two is from 6 PM until 7 PM in order allow parents of multiple students to attend. Please save the date, more information to follow from your child’s teacher.
Thank you as always for your continued support as we embark on this very new way of school. We truly appreciate your assistance.
Sincerely,
Julie M. Louf

Welcome Letter #1
August 28, 2020
Greetings, Breed Families!
Welcome to our new school year! As you may already know, the Lynn Public Schools will begin the 20-21 school year remotely. Remote learning is when students engage in their classes and complete assignments from a remote location, not from inside the school. Although we will be learning remotely, the attendance policy has not changed; it is imperative that students attend all classes in order to receive full course credit and be promoted to the next grade.
This school year will look very different as we move into teaching and learning. We have adopted a Learning Management System (LMS) for Lynn Public Schools, called "Schoology". "Schoology"is an online application where all learning tools are stored. Parents, teachers, and students will all be able to use this one system to communicate, hold conferences, complete assignments, and receive feedback. "Schoology" is accessible to students and families beyond school hours. "Schoology" can be accessed through a desktop, laptop, or through the web browser on an iPad or tablet.
To log into "Schoology"
Students will access "Schoology" by logging onto:
https://lynnschools.schoology.com
Username: student’s email address:
stu------@lynnschools.org (6 digit ID# follows stu)
If you do not know your child’s id#, please contact your building principal. Beginning on September 16th, student courses will be loaded on their "Schoology" pages and they will have access to school updates. More information will follow, including videos detailing how to log in.
Students in grades 3-12 should have received their district-issued loaner laptops at this time. If you have not had this opportunity, please contact your building principal and they will provide dates, times, and locations for pickup. Devices have been ordered for students in grades K-2—we will notify families when those arrive. Please continue to check messages from us and follow us on Twitter @breedmiddle for updates.
This is the first of multiple letters you will receive. We will share more information as it becomes available. One piece of information that is forthcoming will detail breakfast and lunch pick-up locations. We thank you for your patience during this time and welcome you all to the Breed family.
Sincerely,
Julie M. Louf

About School Councils
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
It is important to note the School Council plays an advisory role in assisting the building principal to organize and implement a School Improvement Plan which not only addresses the areas in which the school intends to comply with the requirements of the Educational Reform Act, but also how the school intends to meet those system-wide goals and policies adopted by the school committee. Membership will consist of the principal, teachers, parents, students and community members. |
