Public Notice to comply with P.L. 107-1 10, Section1111 (h) (6) (A) The Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires school districts that receive federal Title I funding to notify parents of their right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct their child. As a recipient of these funds, the Lynn Public Schools will provide you with this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child's classroom teachers. • Whether the teacher meets the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and subjects he/she teaches. • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances. • The teacher's college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree. • Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications. The Lynn Public School System is committed to providing quality instruction for all students and does so by employing the most qualified individuals to teach and support each student in the classroom. If you would like information about the qualifications of your child's teachers, you may contact the principal of your child's school.

Lynn School Resources

	Lynn Schools Healthy Meals Program The Lynn School Food Service Program is comprised of a partnership between Preferred Meals Systems and Chartwells. Over the past five years some of their accomplishments include: adding more Balanced Choice meals and "Better for you" snacks; adding more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains to our menus at all grade levels. Removing all fried foods from the menu and zero trans-fat in all foods. Look fore more exciting changes to come in the near future. Click here for School Lunch Menus and Food Program

	Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) is designed to meet the requirements of the Education Reform Law of 1993. This law specifies that the testing program must - Test all public school students in Massachusetts, including students with disabilities and English Language Learner students; - Measure performance based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework learning standards; - Report on the performance of individual students, schools, and districts. As required by the Education Reform Law, students must pass the grade 10 tests in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics and one of the four high school Science and Technology Engineering tests as one condition of eligibility for a high school diploma (in addition to fulfilling local requirements). In addition, the MCAS program is used to hold schools and districts accountable, on a yearly basis, for the progress they have made toward the objective of the No Child Left Behind Law that all students be proficient in Reading and Mathematics by 2014. http://www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/
