Welcome To The Frederick Douglass Collegiate Academy

Welcome to the new Frederick Douglass Collegiate Academy! I am so excited to start this new adventure with all of you. How exciting it is to be on a college campus and get college credits, all while still in high school. The staff and I want to make sure that you are able to have the traditional high school experience, while getting to have a taste of what college life is like. Our goal is to create a sense of community that prides itself on becoming lifelong learners, supporting and engaging with families and of course having fun.

One goal I have for our new school this year is to identify and create our core values. These are values that we will emulate as a community and will be in the forefront of all our decisions and will align with the districts mission statement.

I want all students to be successful here at the academy. The best way to be successful is to be in school every day. The year is going to fly by, and we want to make sure that you are learning as much as you can. I look forward to getting to know you and your families over the next year.

About School Councils
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.

It is important to note the School Council plays an advisory role in assisting the building principal to organize and implement a School Improvement Plan which not only addresses the areas in which the school intends to comply with the requirements of the Educational Reform Act, but also how the school intends to meet those system-wide goals and policies adopted by the school committee. Membership will consist of the principal, teachers, parents, students and community members.
