Letter #1
Robert L. Ford Elementary School
As you may already know, the Lynn Public Schools will begin the 20-21 school year remotely. Remote learning is students engaged in their classes and completing assignments from a remote location, not from inside the school. Although we will be learning remotely, the attendance policy has not changed. It remains the same as in previous years.
This school year will look very different as we move into teaching and learning. We have adopted a Learning Management System for Lynn Public Schools called"Schoology". A learning management system is an online application that allows for the administration of educational courses, providing teaching and learning opportunities anytime, from anywhere. Your child will be taught using "Schoology", Monday-Friday, throughout the school day and beyond. "Schoology" can be accessed through a desktop, laptop, or through the web browser on an iPad or tablet.
Students will access "Schoology" by logging onto:
https://lynnschools.schoology.com
Username: student’s email address:
stu------@lynnschools.org (6 digit ID# follows stu)
Your child’s 6-digit id# is included in their email address, immediately following stu. If you don’t know your child’s id#, please contact your building principal. Beginning on September 16th, once they are logged in, their courses will be loaded on this page and they will have access to school updates. More information will follow including videos with how to login.
Students in grades 3-12 should have already received their district issued loaner laptops at this time. If you have not had this opportunity, please contact your building principal and they will provide dates, times, and locations for pickup. Devices have been ordered for students in grades K-2, we will notify families when those arrive.
Starting September 23rd, the school day for Grades 1 - 5 at the Ford School is Monday - Friday from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. During that time, students will participate in teaching and learning based on the following times: |

Fall 2020 - Autumn Activites At Ford Elementary!
In November, forty-five Ford Elementary School students received recognition for their progress on ST Math. ST Math is a visual instructional program that uses the brain's innate spatial-temporal reasoning ability to solve mathematical problems. ST Math’s unique, patented approach provides students with equitable access to learning through challenging puzzles, non-routine problem solving, and informative feedback.
Each ST Math superstar received a certificate from Jiji, the ST Math mascot, as well as a Jiji sticker to celebrate their progress on ST Math. Each student solved over 100 puzzles on ST Math during the month of November. With four students solving over 200 puzzles and one student solving 345 puzzles!
Our top 5 ST Math Superstars for November:
- Heathan A- Room 102 - 345 puzzles
- Tycari F- Room 104 - 256 puzzles
- Liam B- Room 105 - 214 puzzles
- Jessica C- Room 201 - 208 puzzles
- Elsa M- Room 101 - 205 puzzles

In the month of October, Ford families came to school to pick up learning materials that included a fun Autumn activity.
First graders made a “Falling for Me” tree telling us all about themselves while creating beautiful Autumn trees.
Second and third graders were able to create a fall wreath using tissue paper leaves in all the Autumn colors. Fourth and fifth graders received scratch art leaves to tap into their creativity to make gorgeous Autumn leaves. Here are some of the results of our creative Ford scholars!!

• Do chores at the right time and with a good attitude
• Learn how to work out problems without fighting
• Communicate well so that everyone knows what is happening
• Spend time together as a family
• Celebrate each other’s successes
• Support each other through sad times
• Learn to share

About School Councils
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
It is important to note the School Council plays an advisory role in assisting the building principal to organize and implement a School Improvement Plan which not only addresses the areas in which the school intends to comply with the requirements of the Educational Reform Act, but also how the school intends to meet those system-wide goals and policies adopted by the school committee. Membership will consist of the principal, teachers, parents, students and community members. |
