Welcome To The Tracy Elementary School

Our school is a vibrant, active school filled with children who are encouraged daily to do their best as they try new things. With this in mind, we have designed programs that support students in their learning and give them skills necessary to become life-long learners. Our teachers work closely with staff, students, and parents create a positive learning environment for our school.

Every day we recite the Tracy School motto:
Do something nice for somebody else,
just because you can.
This is the basic premise for our entire school. Smile. Be nice. Be positive. And know that we are here for you.

Parents are an integral part of a student’s education. They monitor the child’s homework, attendance, and nightly reading. We strongly encourage parents to meet with teachers and share their thoughts and concerns. Please read the handbook and notices that are sent home. Check your child’s papers that come home and their agenda books. Stay in contact with the school.

As always, I am here if you need me!

Monthly Notes From Principal Griffin
Submitted For The Month October 2013

Class Academics We Need Your Help!
Many students are struggling with counting money, and making change. Although the teachers complete the lesson, we are finding that many students are still struggling with this concept. It would be helpful if parents had the children practice counting loose change from your pocket and figuring out what the change is from a sale. Please work with your child on this!

Clip Fundraising Fundraiser Begins
We will be kicking off our fall fundraiser. This is the major fundraiser for the year. We use this money to pay for buses for field trips, classroom prizes, recess toys, agenda books, Nikki folders, and many other things.
We ask each student to sell at least one item from the catalog. As the children sell from the catalog, they get special “Believe Necklaces”. They have coupons that state they sold 5, 10, and 20 items. When they turn in the coupon, they get a charm necklace. At the end of the fundraiser, students get prizes according to how much they sold.
Order forms can be turned in to the office on or before Wednesday, October 23. All checks are payable to Tracy Elementary School.

Thank you for your help on this fundraiser!
Icon PTO PTO Meeting
I am sending home nomination papers for officers for the PTO. Please send them back by Friday, October 3. I will then make up a ballot sheet for parents to vote and send that home on Monday, October 8th.

There are many opportunities for the PTO to help out the school. From BoxTops for Education to Winter Wonderland, there is much that can be done. We can brainstorm a list of projects and decide which ones are appropriate for us.

We are looking forward to a great turnout from our parents.

REMINDERS Reminders No Snack Time
Every day the children have the opportunity to have breakfast in the morning and lunch with their class. We do not have snack time at school. Children are able to bring in their own lunch to eat, but it must be a healthy lunch. As I monitor the lunch room, I am seeing many children eating a huge bag of chips or cookies and not eating anything nutritious. Also, candy is not allowed in school at any time. That is a snack for at home. This is especially important as the Halloween season approaches.

SPORTS Sports
Calendar Trips Open House at the Fire House
There is an Open House at the Western Ave Fire house on Wednesday, October 9 from 2:30 – 4:30. This is a chance for students to see the fire trucks up close and meet the fire fighters and Sparky the Fire Dog. The children can learn safety tips and get pizza and soda.

This is always a great time and we hope to see you there!
