Entrance Age Requirements

The Lynn School Committee voted on Tuesday, November 25, 1997, to change the
school entrance age. Age requirements
are:

Kindergarten Program
(5 year olds)
Born between September 1, 2001 and September 1, 2002
Grade One
(6 year olds)
Born between September 1, 2000 and September 1, 2001



Documents Required to Register:


1. Proof of Age - Birth Certificate or Passport
2. Immunization Record
3. Evidence of Legal Residence, includes utility bills, lease, mortgage, etc.
4. Evidence of Legal Guardianship, includes birth certificate or probate court guardianship order and parent photo ID.

 


Student Assignment Policy:

According to the Lynn Public Schools Voluntary Plan for School Improvement and the Elimination of Minority Isolation, approved by the Lynn School Committee and the Massachusetts State Board of Education in February, 1988, amended in September, 1989, February, 1990, and November , 1999......all students may attend their district school...requests for out of district placements are determined by racial balance and class size of the out of district school...

Out of district placements are not guaranteed. District students can displace an out of district student if class sizes reach capacity seating (30 students). Out of district students will be required to move to their district school or another school of choice.



IMPORTANT

Any Pre-Kindergarten student currently enrolled in the Lynn Public Schools who wants to transfer  to another Lynn Public School for Kindergarten for September 2007, must make an appointment at the Parent Information Center to request transfer. To be eligible to transfer, these students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2007.
