Welcome!
Mr. Ellis has been teaching 8th grade science at TMMS for 7 years. He graduated from Alfred University in 2012 with bachelor’s degree in geology and chemistry and a master’s degree in science education from Syracuse University in 2015.
Born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of NY (think cows… not city), the beautiful lakes, waterfalls, and gorges of the area inspired him to study geology. Mr. Ellis moved to Boston in 2016 and then later to Lynn.
Note to Parents: The best way for you to stay informed on your student's progress in science class is to create a parent Schoology account. Not only will you be able to see grades, but in most cases you will be able to see the actual assignments, resources, and materials your student is working with.
Access codes are sent home with students at the beginning of the year. If you need an access code, please email Mr. Ellis or call the Guidance Office.

KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS
Your assignments will be organized into three categories and have different purposes:
• Practice Assignments (50%) help you apply what we learn and can be repeated. You should repeat these until you get 100% and ask about the parts you get wrong. Most of these assignments will be in Schoology and can be improved for homework.
• Mastery Checks (40%) are short quizzes or lab reports that test your knowledge, skills, and your understanding of the experiments and labs we do in class. Some mastery checks are locked until you complete practice assignments. Projects (10%) are assigned each marking period, such as ScienceSelfies or Faces of Science, and will be presented to the class.
