Lynn Public Schools offers a range of options for secondary school students.
City Arts & Sciences Academy (CASA) is Lynn Public Schools’ new STEAM-focused public school. By blending Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math in a hands-on learning environment, students gain real-world skills, explore creative projects, and build community.
Enrolling at CASA
What is City Arts & Sciences Academy?
City Arts & Sciences Academy (CASA) opened in September 2025 with grades 6 and 9. Each year CASA will enroll a new class of 6th and 9th graders until it offers grades 6 through 12. CASA is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) school that blends subjects in a hands-on learning environment with unique course offerings.
How is City Arts & Sciences Academy different from other school options in Lynn?
CASA uses project-based learning, dedicating four days to academics and one day to hands-on projects each week. By learning through creation, CASA empowers students not just to learn, but to create—building a community where everyone’s ideas and contributions matter.
What grades does City Arts & Sciences Academy have?
In 2025–2026, CASA offers grades 6 and 9. In 2026–2027, CASA will offer grades 6, 7, 9, and 10.
Who is eligible to attend City Arts & Sciences Academy (CASA)?
Current 5th and 8th grade students who are residents of the City of Lynn may enter the lottery to enroll for next year’s 6th and 9th grade classes. If your student is a current 9th grader in 2025–2026 interested in attending CASA, please email
[email protected].
How can my child enroll at City Arts & Sciences Academy?
Students interested in attending CASA must complete the CASA lottery form, which will open on October 31, 2025, and close on January 23, 2026. If applicants exceed the number of available seats, students will be entered into a randomized lottery.
Students who are selected through the randomized lottery will be offered a seat at CASA. Students who are not selected will be added to a waitlist. If a student applies to more than one special admission school and accepts a seat at one, they will be ineligible for waitlists.
What are the benefits of attending City Arts & Sciences Academy?
The mission statement of CASA is “Inspiring designers and artists to use CREATIVITY, CRITICAL THINKING, and EXPERIMENTATION to imagine and cultivate a future vested in community.” Students at CASA have unique opportunities through special electives, community partnerships, project-based learning, and their weekly project day to learn in a hands-on way and gain real-world skills. CASA offers a small school environment, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 16:1, where all students are important contributors to the community.
