Enrolling at LVTI

What is Lynn Vocational Technical Institute?
LVTI is a trade school, sometimes called a vocational school. LVTI offers 18 career/technical areas that all students explore before choosing a career path to study for the final three years of high school. Co-operative education and internships are also available to juniors and seniors who meet eligibility requirements. These students can transition into the workplace, offering them advanced on-the-job training that often leads to full time employment upon graduation.

How is Lynn Vocational Technical Institute different from other school options in Lynn?
LVTI is a career-centered school. In 8th and 9th grades at LVTI, students explore different career options. By the end of 9th grade, each student will choose a career-focused “shop” and will learn the skills of that trade for the next 3 years of high school. In 11th and 12th grade, students will alternate weeks in their shop and their academic classes. Students also have the option to do a “co-op” work experience. These students do hands-on work in their trade on shop weeks instead of reporting to school each day.

What grades does Lynn Vocational Technical Institute have?
LVTI offers grades 8 through 12. Current 7th grade students admitted during this cycle to enter as 8th grade students at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in September 2026 will remain enrolled through grade 12.

How can my child enroll at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute?
There is one high school application form for Lynn Public Schools’ special admissions schools. Students interested in attending LVTI must complete the high school application form, which is open now and will close on January 23, 2026.

Click here to see the full admissions policy for LVTI.

Students who are not admitted will be added to a waitlist.

What are the benefits of attending LVTI?
LVTI provides a career-focused education where students gain hands-on skills in their chosen trade, leading to a high school diploma and valuable career certification. This training prepares graduates for employment in high-demand fields or for further education after high school. Through co-operative Education, juniors and seniors can gain on-the-job experience that often translates directly into full-time employment after graduation.
