Welcome

Dear Thurgood Marshall, Middle School Community,

Welcome to another exciting school year at Thurgood Marshall Middle School! It is an honor to be named after Thurgood Marshall who was a passionate and successful advocate for education and civil rights.  As we embark on this journey together, we will continue to promote our D.R.E.A.M. principle which centers on the principles of Dignity, Respect, Effort, Achievement and Motivation to be a successful community member.  Our dedicated faculty is ready to deliver dynamic lessons and support your students in finding joy in their school day while considering their individual needs to experience a sense of deeper learning

This year our focus with your student(s) is to improve their literacy skills. One way we will be doing this is by increasing opportunities to WRITE using the acronym, R.A.C.E. (Re-state the question, Answer, Cite evidence, and Explain answer). We will also be promoting PERSERVERANCE, CONSTRUCTING ARGUMENTS, and USING TOOLS to empower students to successfully complete rigorous tasks.

Thank you for your continued support. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Warm regards,

Stephanie Doucette
