Your family is the most important “team” that you will ever work with!
To be successful everyone in the family needs to:
• Respect each other’s space and belongings
• Listen to each other
• Do chores at the right time and with a good attitude
• Learn how to work out problems without fighting
• Communicate well so that everyone knows what is happening
• Spend time together as a family
• Celebrate each other’s successes
• Support each other through sad times
• Learn to share
Did You Know?
The routine of the school day is important for students. They know the main purpose for being in school is to learn and that routines are in place precisely to help them focus on that learning. When students are repeatedly tardy, these routines are disrupted. Arriving after 8:15 AM can throw off their whole morning or even their day, especially if being late made the trip to school stressful.
If getting to school by 8:15 AM is a challenge for your family, you will need to make changes to your morning schedule at home in order to get to school on time. During the winter, students take longer to get ready because of coats, boots and hats. Setting your alarm for 15 minutes earlier could be all that is needed to ensure students are here to meet the teacher by 8:15 AM. This adjustment can help ensure that all students have a great start to their day.
Welcome To The Edward A. Sisson Elementary School
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Another school year is under way and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with your children.
Some information follows to ensure your child’s school year is a happy and successful one.
- “Every Student Every Day” Attendance is extremely important. Your child must be in school every day. Please try to schedule doctor and dentist appointments for after school hours or on Saturday. In addition, please plan your vacations during school vacations.
- Upon return to school from an absence, Please send a parent or doctor note in with your child if he/she is absent explaining the reason and date of the absence.
- School begin at 7:45.It is important that all students are here on time because breakfast is served promptly at 7:45 and ends at 8:00. Also, when they are late, they miss valuable instructional time.
- Check each night to see what your child has for homework. Homework must be completed each night and returned the following morning.
- Students are not allowed to use cell phones in school, therefore the teacher will collect each cell phone and they will be kept in the office until the end of the school day.
- Kindergarten students will enter and leave the building through the side door labeled AI. Grade 1 enters through the back door that is located on the back school yard labeled BI Grade 2- 5 will enter through the front doors labeled A2.
During inclement weather (rain, snow or under 20 degrees) ALL students will enter through the front doors. (A2)
- Identification-All visitors must ring the bell to enter the school building and state reason for visit. All visitors MUST report to the main office upon entering the building. You must leave their license and receive a badge. The secretary will be very happy to assist you.
- Free Breakfast and Lunch for every child.
- The Sisson School does not have parties, so please do not send in any candy or goodies.
- No Dogs allowed on School Property at any time per Lynn City Ordinance.
I am looking forward to another great year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Franklin

About School Councils
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
It is important to note the School Council plays an advisory role in assisting the building principal to organize and implement a School Improvement Plan which not only addresses the areas in which the school intends to comply with the requirements of the Educational Reform Act, but also how the school intends to meet those system-wide goals and policies adopted by the school committee. Membership will consist of the principal, teachers, parents, students and community members. |
