Welcome to the LPS New Teacher Induction Program

Welcome to the Lynn Public Schools Induction page. New teachers and their mentors are the lifeblood of our system.

SY21-22 Elementary Induction Program Orientation Sign-in/Information

Components of the Induction Program are mandated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The role of the Lynn Public School Department is to offer these components to new teachers and to those moving toward professional licensure in order to ease transitions and to ensure professional success. There is an Induction Coordinator for each grade span.  Please contact your grade level specific coordinator with any questions or concerns.

Induction Responsibilities Calendar

In order to successfully complete the Lynn Public Schools Induction Program, attendance is required for all meetings and times.  Please direct any questions to the appropriate Induction Coordinator as early as possible to allow for a timely response.

Advanced Mentoring Requirement

According to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regulations, participation in an Induction Program is a requirement for advancing a license to the Professional level.  All teachers must complete the Induction Program during their first year in the district.   Among other requirements most educators need to complete the following:

•    One-year Induction Program with a mentor
•    At least 50 hours of a mentored experience  beyondthe induction year

Lynn Public Schools will provide teachers with an Induction Program and assigned mentors. The district will also provide opportunities for completing the “mentored experience beyond the induction year.”

Year One - Induction Program
Attend all required district meetings Attend School Support Team meetings Meet regularly with a mentor
Keep monthly logs/journals Participate in peer observations Educator Essentials
Lesson Design (year 1 or 2)

Year Two and Year Three - Advanced Mentoring
Lesson Design (year 1 or 2) Six Traits Writing
Studying Skillful Teaching: Promoting Motivation, Learning, and Achievement
At least one of the following: Classroom Management I
Classroom Management II (prerequisite: Classroom Management I)
Strategies for Student Success

All teachers are obligated to know and complete all other requirements necessary to advance their licenses.

  Monthly Survey Monkey Log/Journal
  Each month you are required to submit, through Survey Monkey, a Mentee Log/Journal or a Mentor Log depending on your role. We suggest creating a WORD document that will allow you to reflect, note, or you’re your thoughts and meetings throughout the month as you can only submit once per month via Survey Monkey. Type and update it in WORD and then copy and paste it into Survey Monkey at the end of the month for submission.
