Dear Lynn Public Schools Families,
We are excited to welcome our students back for another school year! The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we appreciate your partnership as we embark on this journey together.
As the school year begins, please remember that this time can be busy for students, families, and our bus drivers. Routines are being established, and we ask for your patience, especially with new students who may be boarding the bus for the first time.
Here are a few important reminders:
- First Day of School: The first day of school is September 04. For preschoolers and kindergarten, it is September 09. Please ensure that your child is ready and excited for this special day.
- Verification with Bus Drivers: When your child boards the bus, please verify with the driver that their name is on the roster.
- Identification Information: We recommend that your child’s backpack contains a card with the following details:
- Child’s first and last name
- Parent’s first and last name
- Transportation Changes: As we adjust to the new school year, please be aware that any necessary changes to transportation may be made by our vendor to better accommodate all students. Requests submitted in September may take up to five business days to process due to contract stipulations.
- Families should be prepared to experience very high call volume during the beginning of school and there is a chance you won’t be able to get through to someone right away. Please leave your name, student information you are calling about, and a phone number to call you back.
- Due to traffic variations in Lynn, buses may arrive as early as 10 minutes before or up to 10 minutes after the scheduled time on any given day. Students are advised to be at their bus stop at least 10 minutes early. If the bus is delayed by more than 10 minutes, feel free to contact the transportation department for an estimated arrival time.
- During the first few days or weeks of school, additional delays are likely as routes are adjusted and students become more familiar with their schedules. There may also be changes to bus routes in the initial weeks until all necessary adjustments are finalized.
We hope for a smooth and successful school year ahead. Should you encounter any issues or have questions, please do not hesitate to call our office at 781-477-7220 Ext. 1814 & 1815. Please feel free to email us at: [email protected]
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fantastic school year!
Sincerely,
Lynn Public Schools Transportation Department
