Superintendent's Update May 2026

Posted Date: 06/01/26 (10:30 AM)

Superintendent Spotlight
This week we focus on honoring the Class of 2026. We have 1,346 students graduating from five high schools, and we congratulate and celebrate every one of them and their families.

Of all the transitions we experience in our lives, high school graduation is among the most significant. It represents a coming of age – academically, socially, physically, and in other areas. Many of our graduates will go on to college, others to the workforce, and some to the military. Regardless of the path they choose, we send them forth with pride, confident they are prepared for what lies ahead.

TALENT, TALENT EVERYWHERE

This is the busiest time of year in our schools, with events taking place every day. Having had the opportunity to attend many, the one common denominator is the amazing and wide-ranging abilities of our students – from regionally acclaimed civics projects to award-winning drama clubs to state tournament sports teams. We should all be proud.

SPECIAL OCCASION

One of the most impactful events LPS stages is the Lynn Special Games, a friendly competition among special needs students from across the district. It was so powerful to watch almost 500 smiling students parade into Manning Field. The Lynn Special Games have been going on for more than 50 years, providing adaptive and inclusive sports and recreational opportunities for our students. We are a district fiercely committed to inclusivity, and events like this demonstrate that commitment in a vibrant, beautiful way. Special thanks to our Special Education department, the Lynn Rotary Club, DPW, Police and Fire departments, and all the volunteers who made this a special day for these special students.

A NEW LOOK

We are anxious to launch our new LPS web site, which will be fully functional by July 1. As part of that process, we have also unveiled a new logo for the district.  We are excited for these initiatives that will enhance our overall communications efforts and connections with staff and families.
As we head into the final month of the school year, I want to acknowledge the extraordinary dedication of our educators, staff, families, and community partners. Their commitment ensures that our students continue to learn, grow, and thrive every single day. As we go into the last month of school, please remember the learning continues to happen therefore attendance is critically important. We will observe the federal holiday Juneteenth, June 19th, by closing school that day, and we end the school year officially on Monday June 29th as a half day. We look forward to a healthy month of celebration.Â
