Superintendent's Opening Letter to Families 2026-2027
Dear Lynn Public Schools Families,
Welcome to a new school year!
I hope you and your family have enjoyed a safe, restful, and joyful summer. As we prepare to welcome students back to our classrooms, I want to thank you for the trust you place in Lynn Public Schools. It is an honor to partner with you in your child's education.
Over the past year, I have had the privilege of visiting our schools, meeting with families, talking with students, and watching the incredible work of our teachers and staff. Those experiences have reinforced what I have always believed: Our greatest strength is our people and the strong partnerships we build together on behalf of children.
This year, our focus remains clear. We want every student to feel they belong, every classroom to provide engaging and challenging learning, every educator to have the support they need to succeed and every family to feel welcomed, heard, and valued as an important partner in our schools.
I remain committed to being present in our schools, listening to our community, and working together to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. This school year the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is introducing a new Family Portal, which opened on August 14. This portal will allow families to access their child's MCAS results online. Lynn Public Schools will distribute letters with registration codes to access the portal after the school year begins. Families and caregivers should watch for a ParentSquare message with instructions and resources for creating an account and viewing student MCAS results online.
Thank you for your patience as we prepare for a successful launch for all families.
Below are a few important dates as you begin planning for the start of the school year.
| Event | Date |
| First Day of School (Grades 1–12) | September 2 |
| Labor Day Weekend – No School | September 4 & 7 |
| Return to School | September 8 |
| First Day of Pre-K & Kindergarten | September 8 |
Enjoy these final weeks of summer. I look forward to welcoming our students back and to another wonderful year of learning together.
With gratitude,
Molly S. Cohen, Ed.D.
