Welcome to the Lynn Public Schools Elementary Mathematics Department!
Our mission is to ensure that every student develops a deep understanding of mathematics while building confidence, curiosity, and a positive mathematical identity. We are committed to providing high-quality, equitable mathematics instruction that prepares students to think critically, solve problems, and communicate their reasoning.
Our curriculum is aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and is built around Illustrative Mathematics, our district's selected high-quality instructional material. This problem-based curriculum provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore mathematical concepts, collaborate with peers, explain their thinking, and make connections to the world around them.
In our classrooms, students do the thinking. Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences, rich mathematical discussions, and purposeful problem solving, students actively construct their understanding while teachers facilitate learning, ask thoughtful questions, and provide the support each learner needs to succeed.
Our work is guided by the LPS Instructional Core, ensuring that every classroom provides rigorous, student-centered instruction where all students have access to high-quality mathematics learning every day.
